What is the character limit of one SMS? How credit is calculated? #
An SMS has a character limit, which varies between English and Unicode SMS.
Please be aware that the Unicode feature is presently limited to the Quick One SMS Credit Calculated. If you intend to send Unicode SMS from the DLT SMS section, you must first obtain approval for your Unicode message template on the DLT portal.
After receiving approval, you can then choose your message template in the DLT SMS section and proceed with sending.
This article will discuss the 160-character limit for a single SMS message, how the SMS character count is calculated, and the character limit count.
One SMS Credit Calculated limit for DLT and Quick SMS section #
When sending SMS messages, whether from the DLT SMS section or Quick SMS section, the message cost is determined based on the SMS character count. If your message stays within the 160-character limit, only one SMS cost is deducted. However, if your message extends to 306 characters, the cost of 2 SMS will be deducted.
As the character count in the message box increases, it will be automatically displayed, and the SMS count will increment accordingly to 2 SMS, 3 SMS, and so forth.
It’s important to note that in both the DLT and Quick SMS sections, your SMS can comprise a total of 1530 characters, but it should not exceed this character limit.
Here’s a breakdown of how many characters are considered as 1 SMS, 2 SMS, 3 SMS, and so on. This breakdown provides a clear understanding of the character limit count for SMS messages in the English language.
