Scheduling and throttling bulk campaigns
For promotional sends above 50k recipients, throttle the send so your inbound hotline doesn't melt.
The fastest-to-inbox send isn't always the best one. Sending 500k promotional SMS in two minutes triggers 500k possible replies and calls in the next fifteen minutes. For most teams, spreading the send over 30–60 minutes produces better economics.
Controls available
- Schedule — pick an exact IST date and time, or choose the next allowed promotional window (9am IST the following day).
- Throttle — cap throughput to N messages per minute so downstream systems can keep up.
- Stagger by timezone — not really needed for India but useful if you have NRI contact lists.
- Quiet hours — auto-pause sends between 9pm and 9am IST for promotional categories.
All of these are configurable per-campaign on the web composer and through the API's throttle and schedule_at fields.
